This course will give you the knowledge to reduce common errors in photography, and allow you to capture the images you want. Topics covered include blurry images, exposure errors, lens flare, fill-flash.
2. Get to know your camera 2.5 hour session $65
This course will allow you to understand your camera and how it works. Once you understand your camera you can take control on how your images look. Topics covered include shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, exposure modes, focus modes, basic flh.
3. Embrace your creativity 2.5 hour session $65
This course will teach you how to define your subject, make stronger images through using camera techniques. Topics covered include composition rules, lens selection, camera angles, lighting, and use of colour.
Develop your photography 4 classes - 3 hour sessions $385
Develop your confidence and creativity. In these classes you will learn to refine your style. You will learn how to utilize technical skills to create mood and creativity. You will learn how to analyse, critique and edit your imagery. This course covers topics including composition, identifying photographic style, lighting and creative techniques.
Fundamentals of Photography 5 week course - 3 hour sessions $445

Learn the fundamentals of photography in this course. Topics covered include: understanding light, aperture, shutter speeds, metering and manual exposure, lens choice and perspective, improving your photography through lighting and composition, organizing, editing, workflow and output.

35 mm film photography One day workshop $295
(Maximum 8 per group)
Learn how to operate a film camera on manual mode. This workshop includes theory, and a practical shooting session. You will learn the distinctive benefits of 35mm format versus larger formats. You will learn how to use a 35mm format camera and you will expose and shoot a roll of film in the practical session. 35mm format film cameras are provided for use within this workshop.
Medium format film photography One day workshop $345

Learn how to shoot on manual with medium format equipment. This course covers medium format camera types and formats, and provides hands on shooting experience with specialised equipment. You will learn the distinctive benefits of medium format versus smaller and larger formants. You will learn how to use a medium format camera and you will expose and shoot a roll of film in the practical session. Medium format film cameras are provided for use within this workshop.
Large Format Film photography One day workshop $385

Learn how to photograph with large format camera equipment. This course covers large format camera types, and provides hands on shooting experience with specialised equipment. You will learn about the benefits of large format versus smaller formats. You will learn how to use a large format camera and its movements, and will expose and shoot film in the practical session in landscape, portraiture, and still life applications. Large format film cameras are provided for use within this workshop.
LIFESTYLE
Golden Sessions 2.5 hour session $85

In these workshops you will shoot on location in late afternoon light. Learn to see the light change and shoot golden backlit images, work with shadows, and increase the drama and mood to your images. Each month we offer a specialty golden session shoot at differing locations. This is a practical hands on workshop.
Photo Walks 2.5 hour session $85

Come along on one of our photo walks in various interesting locations and learn how to see the world from a different perspective. Learn about lighting, composition, exposure, camera angles, lens choice and perspective, and stimulate your creative senses! This is a practical hands on workshop.
Light painting Night Workshop 2.5 hour session $85

Bring your sparklers, torches, flashes, cameras and tripods and learn how to paint with light. This is a practical hands on workshop.
Learn how to photograph children 3 hour session $85

This course will teach you to photograph children in a natural and fun way. Learn how to connect and capture the decisive moment. Learn how to minimize visual distractions, capture movement and action, choose the best camera angle, and select suitable clothing and locations. Learn how to direct children and embrace spontaneity. This course includes a discussion on cameras, lenses and camera settings to get the best images.
Introduction to Travel Photography 3 hour session $85

Learn how to capture the essence of your travels. In this course we discuss your location and discuss the best equipment for your travels. We cover lighting, best times of the day for shooting, view point, lens angles and perspective, landscapes and seascapes, reflections, white balance, shutter speeds, iso, low light environments, capturing motion, etiquette, security, image storage and camera care.
STUDIO
Studio Light Basics One day workshop $395

Learn how to photograph in a studio environment. This course covers light sources and the relevant light and emotive qualities. Learn about exposure, using light meters, studio lights, measuring lights and creating studio images. This is a theory and practical hands on workshop.
Using Light meters One day workshop $395
(Maximum 6 per group)
Learn how to use light meters and the different methods to determine exposure. This course will teach you to take incident and reflected readings to expose for your lighting environment. This will allow you take control of your lighting ratios, contrast, exposure and shoot manually for roll cameras, view cameras, or digital cameras. This includes theory demonstration, and practical shooting time.
Studio Portraiture techniques One day workshop $395

Create evocative portraits that communicate more about your subject. Learn to understand different light sources and their qualities, and high and low key set ups. We encourage you to explore various lighting set ups to refine your portrait skills. Learn about lighting ratios, and various portraiture lighting techniques such as Rembrandt, butterfly, split, broad and short, and rim lighting. Work with models to refine these skills in a studio environment. This is a practical course with hands on demonstrations, and an emphasis on your working within a studio environment.
PORTRAITURE
Portrait posing techniques One day workshop $395

Learn how to pose individuals and groups. This course will cover masculine and feminine posing, and posing composition rules. Learn how to improve posing and to how to direct your models. Workshop includes morning theory session and afternoon session with models and refining your skills.
Environmental Portraiture One day workshop $395

Photographing a subject within their environment allows us to understand more about our subject. It gives context and relevance, and allows the viewer to consider the subject with this additional information. This course will cover analysis of the great environmental portrait photographers such as Salgado, Cartier-Bresson, Arbus and many others. This will enable us to understand how to create powerful portraits that conveys character and context. We will consider location issues such as controlling light, and cropping in camera in these sessions.
Portraiture Masterclass Three day workshop $1350

In this three day workshop we will discuss studio, environmental, and candid portraiture. We will cover composition, lighting, posing, and editing. In this workshop we will analyse great portrait photographers, and finetune our portraiture techniques. This course includes theory, and practical shooting each day. Bring a computer to download your images, as we will give you advice on editing your images. At completion of editing, we will gain insight from the group critique of our imagery.
Natural Light Portrait Workshop One day workshop $395

This workshop will include practical demonstrations, and include interior and exterior hands on shooting. Learn how to see light and utilize light to create mood. Learn about the direction, quality, colour and shaping of light. Learn various portrait lighting techniques and consider the perfect light for your portrait based on your model and your creativity.
SPECIALTY
Travel Photography Adventure Workshop 6 hour session $295

On this course we will go on an adventure to look at new locations from a new perspective, just as you will with your upcoming travels. There are a variety of locations that we visit as we cross the bay and photograph locations on an island. We put our theory into practice from the introductory course, and have hands on shooting experience with tips and advice on hand. We cover lighting, best times of the day for shooting, view point, lens angles and perspective, landscapes and seascapes, reflections, white balance, shutter speeds, iso, low light environments, capturing motion.
Landscape Photography One, two, or three day workshops
(Maximum 10 per group)
One, two, or three day photographic workshops at various locations. Together we photograph some of our most scenic locations. These workshops offer friendly practical advice and cover exposure, composition, filtration, seeing light, image sharpness and composition. Subjects may include seascapes, cloudscapes, water motion, reflections, colour and texture. Bring a computer to download your images, as we will give you advice on editing your images. At completion of editing, we will gain insight from the group critique of our imagery.
Nude Photography One day workshop $395

Learn to look at the human form through shape and light, and create your own fine art nude images in your shooting session. Session includes looking at light, shape, texture, and learning how to light nudes. Theory and lighting demonstrations, with an afternoon shooting session with nude life model.
Macro and Nature Photography 2 sessions - 3 hour sessions $300 or $165 per session

Discover the intricacies of nature and insects in this workshop. We will cover equipment, camera settings, depth of field, metering, lighting, colour selection, composition and lighting styles (flash and natural) These workshops will include a theory session with hands on shooting, and practical hands on location shooting refining your skills.
Producing Art prints for exhibition (from concept to exhibition) 8 week course - 3 hour sessions $749 (Maximum 6 per group)
This course is for photographers who want to develop a body of work to exhibit. We will encourage you to explore your creativity, and self expression through photography. This course assists you from research on your project, concept development including lighting and techniques, scheduling your shooting sessions, critiquing and assisting in the editing and printing process and producing final fine art prints for exhibition. (B/W fine art and digital fine art) All students will exhibit in graduating exhibition.
Photography Business Basics 5 week course - 3 hour sessions $445

This course is for self-motivated photographers wanting to take the next step into the business of photography. In these sessions you will develop a marketing strategy and a business plan. You will develop insight into the photographic industry, and learn how to build a reputation. You will refine your imagery and create a strong portfolio to show prospective clients.
Critique evenings 3 hour session $85

Bring along a selection of images to our group critiques, and learn how these images could be improved through lighting, composition and cropping, retouching, and print techniques etc.
One on One Tuition and Mentoring $140 p/h
One on one tuition or mentoring customized to your needs. Areas include, composition, critiquing, darkroom, film and digital, exposure and camera operation, through to lighting and posing, studio and natural light, creating fine art prints, the business of photography, and much more. Minimum of two-hour session.

DARKROOM
Fundamentals: Shoot, develop and print 5 week course / Weekend course $685

Shoot black and white film, learn how to process your own film in the darkroom, print proof sheets, and learn how to print black and white images. This course will include exposure testing, control of tone and shade, use of filters for contrast control, and producing photographic prints. This is a hands on workshop in the darkroom.
Advanced B&W printing techniques Weekend course $685

Learn how to improve your black and white printing skills through dodging and burning, softening, vignetting, preflashing, and refining your printing skills. This is a hands on workshop in the darkroom printing a portfolio of your work.
Advanced B&W Printing techniques - Toning and Fibre One day workshop $375

This workshop will teach you how to tone your black and white images and print on archival fibre based photographic paper. This is a hands on workshop in the darkroom.
Hand colouring and spotting techniques One day workshop $330

Learn how to retouch and spot images, and hand colour black and white images with hand applied oils and pencils. Workshop includes instructional demonstration and each student will then retouch images themselves.
EDITING
Introduction to Photoshop 4 classes / 3 hours session / 1 session per week $335
In this course you will learn the Photoshop workspace and its tools. You will be covering industry tools such as layers, colour corrections, exposure adjustments, image manipulation, masks and curves, filters and automated functions. This course will give you a basic working knowledge of Photoshop and working with images. You will need to provide your own laptop with Photoshop, and a range of images to go through exercises in class, and at home.
Introduction to Light room 5 session / 3 hours session / 1 session per week $335
This course will teach you how to use Light room effectively, and save yourself time editing. You will learn to download, manage, edit, correct, and present images. We will cover workflow, white balance, exposure, distortion, colour balance, and outputting for different mediums. You will need to provide your own laptop with light room, and a range of images to go through exercises in class, and at home.
